Nine female Calero students were selected to attend today's conference at the San Jose Convention Center. Watermark is a community of executive women in the San Francisco Bay Area, whose mission is to increase the representation of women at executive levels to drive innovation, human development and economic growth. Speakers this year include Madaline Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Viola Davis.
Forty-three percent of our students earned a 3.0+ grade point average during the 1st semester. That's outstanding! Congratulations to our students and a big thank you to our staff and parents/guardians!
Calero High School students have recovered 805 individual units since the first day of school on August 10! That's outstanding! Keep up the great work. A big "THANK YOU" to our teachers and staff for the support necessary to make this happen.

Wednesday: Wear Orange Day to support Anti-Bullying month / earn an extra 5 points if your class makes an Anti-Bullying pledge poster of some kind. . .
Thursday: Wear Pink to support Breast Cancer awareness
Friday: Class Color Day, 10th is grey, 11th is yellow, 12th is black
Points totaled at the end of the week and winning Advisory gets a pizza party.
Congratulations to the Calero Fire co-ed volleyball team for winning the first athletic championship in our 4 year school history! Calero High School joined the South Bay Athletic League last just last year. We are very proud of our student athletes!
All Calero High School students will be visiting universities on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
10th graders will visit San Jose State and Santa Clara University.
11th graders will visit Cal State Monterey and the aquarium.
12th graders will visit U.C Davis and Sacramento State. The senior bus will depart at 8:00a.m! All other buses will depart at 8:30a.m. from Calero High School.
(All Calero students who attend SVCTE will attend field trips with their Advisory class and excused from attending SVCTE in the afternoon). Students are allowed to wear hats for the field trip as long as they are consistent with school dress code, no RED or BLUE, or professional team logos, etc.)

EVERGREEN VALLEY COLLEGE-MOTHER--DAUGHTER STEM PROGRAM
Evergreen Valley College received a grant for the Mother-Daughter STEM Program. We are excited to offer this program to our community while encouraging students a head start on achieving their educational goals and developing strong women of the future. Students, Mother and Daughter, can receive credit for the classes. Mothers have an option to take the class as non-credit too.
Although this is a Mother-Daughter STEM program, we welcome students, female or male without a parent, to register for the class!
-FREE credit-granting course
-4 cohorts; Computer and Information Technology, Women in Technology, Introduction to Astronomy, and Forensic Biology
-Classes run from September 17 to December 10, 2016
-Classes meet on Saturdays; 9AM- 2PM
-Students can receive 3 units per class (3 Evergreen College Credits = 10 high school credits)
-Books are free, one book per Mother and Daughter
-Parking is free
